Penn State Master Gardeners Join Expo in a Big Way!

A Program of Erie County Cooperative Extension

Our area’s gardening enthusiasts will be delighted with the addition of the Penn State Master    Gardeners to this years Expo.  The mission of the Master Gardeners is to educate the public on best practices in consumer horticulture and environmental stewardship based on research information from Penn State.  From formal seminars to a booth full of information, from a miniature golf course to D.B. Pest they’ll have something for everyone!   Their theme for this year’s Erie Home & Garden Expo is...

“The Complete Gardener”  From head to toe, gardening benefits your whole body!

Do you know what gardening can do for you?

Gardening works out your brain when you use  new techniques
Gardening provides your body with nutrition
Gardening is good exercise...It gets your hands and feet moving

Watching plants grow lifts your spirit and relaxes your body

The Master Gardeners have a host of speakers that will be conducting formal seminars throughout the Expo.  Topics run the

gamut from Composting to Landscape Bloopers, Square Foot    Gardening to Tree Pruning, Integrated Pest Management  to Organic Gardening and more.  These seminars will be presented their own room right off the main lobby.  Just look for D.B. Pest, the Pesticide Safety Robot, and you’re there.  Dates and times of these seminars are currently being scheduled.

The complete schedule of events will be posted on this website as soon as it becomes available.

Stop by their booth display and talk

with the EXPERTS.  They will be happy to

answer individual consumer questions one on one.  The Master Gardeners have a myriad of literature and hand outs on hundreds of topics for you to take home as reference material.  They are really excited about the growing  popularity of Going ORGANIC.  They can help you achieve this goal by educating you on how to garden organically around your own home.

Do you have uncooperative soil for growing?  Bring a sample and have your dirt tested.  These Experts can tell you what your soil needs to enhance your growing success.

The Penn State Master Gardeners have something for every member of your family. They will encourage your children to learn about pesticides used in gardening by engaging them in activities centering around a miniature golf game and a speaking lady robot. This amazingly talented group will be promoting the Penn State Master Gardener Program as well. Perhaps you will want to join this group yourself.
